About Dr. Banta
Dr. Banta was born in San Antonio, Texas, and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating Valedictorian from the Sam Barthe School in New Orleans, he attended the University of Virginia where he graduated with an honors degree in Biology in 1981. He then attended Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans and graduated with a medical doctorate in 1985. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery in 1990 at LSU Charity Hospital of New Orleans, where he served as Chief Resident of New Orleans Children’s Hospital and Charity Hospital of New Orleans during that period of time. After completion of his residency, he did a fellowship in adult spine surgery at the Wiltse Spine Institute in Long Beach, California. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Banta began his practice of spine surgery in Dallas where he was practiced since 1991.

Dr. Banta is Board Certified since 1993 by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been re-certified in 2003 and 2013. He has been an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, serving on several program committees. He has also authored multiple papers, moderated surgeon programs, and has been involved in the development and teaching of new innovative spinal procedures.
Dr. Banta specializes in Lumbar Degenerative Spine Surgery, Adult Cervical Spine Surgery, Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, Herniated Discs, Minimally Invasive Lumbar Spine Surgery, Diagnostic/Therapeutic Spinal Injections, and Spinal Oncology.
